Unicorn Watch!

This morning we all became experts for ‘Unicorn Watch’! After studying the Storm Unicorn and inferring more details about them, we videoed each other being interviewed! It was great fun! Afterwards, we watched our film clips back to see how well we spoke and whether our information was precise and coherent! Roll on tomorrow…..

Sneaky Peek!

Shhhhh! We have finished painting our Christmas card designs today!!!! I know it is early but we have to allow them time to be made. Further information will be sent out soon.

There wasn’t a paint brush in sight!!! The children used a fork and cotton buds to create this super effect! Happy Christmas from Topaz Class!

Creative Cave Art

this week we decided that a regular art lesson would not be crazy enough. so, we decided to try it upside down!

We removed our trays from under the table, stacked our chairs up and made our way into our caves (underneath our tables). Once we were under the tables we were under the tables we stuck our textured sugar paper to the underside of the table and began to draw.

The results were some amazing pieces of cave art and a new found appreciation of how difficult it is to draw, write and colour inside a cave

Anglo Saxons v Egyptians

Today we have been casting our memories back to last year when we studied the Anglo Saxons in Y4/5. We have been finding similarities and differences between this civilisation and the Ancient Egyptians especially focussing on their farming, equipment, crops, animals, diet and settlements. Here are a few AMAZING pieces of work Mrs Coleman wanted to share…..

Myla’s outstanding comparing!
Thomas’ epic History!

Science investEGGation!!!!!

Today we set up our science investigation to find out which drink causes the most tooth decay?

We have put eggs in cups and covered them in a range of different drinks. We used eggs as they are one of the closest and most similar surfaces to our teeth. We didn’t think it was a good idea to use our own teeth for this investigation!

Over the next week we will watch to see what happens to the shell and whether there is any decay! We will keep you posted!!!!!

Black History Month

This morning Onyx class have been thinking deeply about how people in society are treated. We wrote diary entries as if we were someone who was treated differently and how they might make a stand and get people to see them as an equal.

We then watched a Newsround special based on Black History Month and shared our thoughts whether it matters if people are different. Andrew summed it up beautifully: “It doesn’t matter about anything as we are all different in lots of ways. If we were all the same life would be boring and there wouldn’t be people to do the different jobs we need.” We also discussed recent events in American and how history has influenced how society acts.
