CHRISTMAS DINNER

Our final pieces are complete after a practice run! All the children have created their own designs onto fabric. Our Adinkra cloths will look amazing displayed in the classroom…Mrs Huntbach

Onyx class have been studying the traditional way the African people produce beautiful prints on their fabric called Adinkra. The symbols used on the fabric have a symbolic meaning and tell a story. The class have made their own printing block, which includes a symbol they have designed themselves with a specific meaning to them. They will use this printing block to produce their own Adinkra cloth in the next lesson…..

To help us to consolidate our division of fractions learning we decided to get active (despite the rain!) Have a look at the fun we had- it was brilliant! Well done guys!

This week the whole school made Christmas decorations for Chester Cathedral. We can’t wait to see the finished article!

Diamond class have shown an interest in bugs they have found in the playground this week. So, we decided to goon a whole class bug hunt today! We found lots of wriggly worms and looked at them carefully before putting them back where they were found. We spoke about the importance of handling creatures with care.

Onyx class led from the front this week with our wonderful Team Captains, Head boy and Head Girl conducting our whole school Remembrance Day assembly. Every child in the school showed amazing respect and understanding and this was due mainly to how wonderfully they were led! Well done guys- I am one proud teacher! 🥰 A special mention must go to Lily who learnt the lines of one of the other captains who had been absent from school, ‘just in case!’ Wow, wow, wow!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Over the course of the day, we learnt about the Glade of Remembrance at the British Arboretum in Lichfield. We studied a brilliant poem by Laura Mucha called ‘We Remember’ and then worked hard to produce our own versions using metaphor and well chosen word choices.
Here are some of our finished products….. what do you think??

aujourd'hui, nous apprenons à dire que nous ne nous sentons pas bien et à expliquer ce qui ne va pas!
Sorry- it had to be done!
Today, Onyx class learnt how to say they aren’t feeling well and how to explain what is wrong. We even challenged ourselves to a game of French battleships using the language we have learnt....oh la la! 😂

Diamond class have been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We have made Divaa lamps with clay, drawn Rangoli patterns on the playground and read the story of Rama and Sita.
