A Magical Muddle! 🪄🧙

Diamond Class had a wonderful time reading the story ‘A Magical Muddle’ today. The story taught us all about trying our best! We learned that it doesn’t matter if we make mistakes, what’s most important is that we try our best and give things a go! 😊 In fact making mistakes makes us all better learners.

Challenge: Diamonds, could you tell your family what happens in the story? 😊

Following the story we had a go at retelling our favourite parts of the story using stick puppets! 😊 We loved this!!! And our spell making was superb!! 🪄 ✨

Happy Halloween!!! 🧡🎃

Well, what a week Diamond Class have had! 💎 We have absolutely loved getting spooky and taking part in lots of Halloween fun.

We’ve explored Halloween sensory bins! Yuck!

Made pumpkins on the light box!

Made spooky spiders in play-dough!

Explored creepy crawlies in jelly!

Made a haunted house!

Counted pumpkin seeds and spiders legs!

Cracked frozen hands!!

Learned about rhyming words and how to count really well! And so so much more! 😀😀😀

Have a look at us in action below! 👀

👻Halloween Team Day👻

Onyx Class have had a ghoulishly good time today for Team Day. In Maths, we planned frightfully fiendish Halloween Parties for the class with just £65 to spend! We focussed on keeping running totals and deducting this from the total amount. Our budgeting was superbly spooktactular! We can’t wait for Money Week after half term to practise our skills even further…

In PSHE, we practised our acting skills whilst thinking about different scenarios based around trick or treating. We thought deeply about how our actions impact others, the consequences, what we should do and why people may choose the wrong choices sometimes.

Finally, we had fun on our Halloween orienteering trail followed by a pumpkintastic party to wish Olly all the best in his new school.

We will miss you Olly but wish you an amazing future!

Thank you to everyone who put so much effort into the amazing pumpkins and wonderful fancy dress! A HUGE congratulations to Maisy who our secret judge chose as their favourite!

Happy half term everyone! 🎃🎃👻👻🎉🎉

🗣Speak out. Stay safe.📣

On Monday, the whole school took part in a special assembly from the NSPCC. We learnt that all children have the right to speak out and be heard, be safe and be listened to.

We learnt that all of us have worries, sometimes big and sometimes small. We learnt that our emotions are like a giant bag: the more worries we have, the more we fill the bag. This then helped us to understand why it is important to speak out when we are feeling worried or unsafe. Each time we speak about our worries, we remove it from our bag!

We realised that there are many people we can speak to like our parents, a trusted adult (over 18years), a teacher or member of staff, another family member, the police or even Childline.

Finally, we learnt that Childline is a number that is always there for us. 08001111 is a number, not to be forgotten!

Amazing Autumn!

Throughout Year One, we have planned four seasonal weeks for us to learn
more about the seasons! We have had a super start to our Autumn week!

Many thanks for all your hard work at home to collect lots of wonderful
Autumn treasures! The children have added so many wonderful things to our class
collection and we have used these to make our very own sensory descriptions of
Autumn.
