๐Ÿ’Žโญ๏ธ ๐Ÿ‘ซFriendship Buddies! ๐Ÿ‘ญโญ๏ธ๐Ÿ’Ž

This week Diamond Class have introduced Friendship Buddies. Each week two children will be chosen (using fairness sticks! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜Š) to be our Friendship Buddies for the week.

What does a Friendship Buddy do?

Friendship Buddies are on hand to help out people in need on the playground. If someone is feeling sad, lonely or hurt then friendship buddies are there to help! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Every child in Diamond Class will have the chance to be a Friendship Buddy throughout the year.

This week is Road Safety Week! ๐Ÿš›

Thank you to Miss Wade for sending out our Road Safety Homework this week. Our blog challenge this week is linked to this homework. ๐Ÿ˜€

What is a Road Safety Hero?

A Road Safety Hero can be anyone who helps us make safe and healthy journeys and supports people after a road crash. You can be road safety heroes too by using roads safely.

We would love you to have a chat with your family at home about what a hero is and who a road safety hero may be. Then we would love you to draw/make/create a Road Safety Hero! ๐Ÿฆธโ€โ™€๏ธ Please bring your heroes into school this week whenever you have the chance. We canโ€™t wait to see them!

Challenge– Can you give your Road Safety Hero a name? โญ๏ธ ๐Ÿฆธ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Please see the link below for further resources and videos :).

Kindness ๐ŸŒŸ

Ruby Class enjoyed a great carpet session on Friday to close our kindness week. We each gave an example of how we have been kind in the day and spoke about what we planned to do at home to keep the kindness flowing!

We then each created a poster to display many of the ways we can be kind! ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿš‚Onyx Class Challenge-Week 4-HS2 ๐Ÿš

Firstly, Mrs Kyle and I want to say that we have been soo impressed with all the wonderful kindness that has been shown in Onyx Class over the last week. Thank you parents for all your help promoting extra kindness and hopefully we can keep the ripple effect going! โค๏ธ

This weeks challenge is an Arty one! In Geography, we have been looking at the HS2 project and have conducted a brilliant debate in class based on the pros and cons.

The for team!
The against gang!

To link into this, I would like you to create a 3D model of either the Victorian steam engine or the new HS2 train ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿš

Bring in your model by Friday of this week and the best model will win the trophy for their team!

Good luck! I canโ€™t wait to see them!

Emerald update!

Remember to check our class blog challenge at the bottom of the post!

We had another busy week in Emerald Class! Our class demonstrated lots of kind and caring words and gestures this week and we completed some activities to think about all the different ways we can be kind to ourselves, other people as well as being kind to our planet!

Keep up the amazing work Emeralds! ๐Ÿ’• We also have been working hard with the wonderful Ruby Class to rehearse for our Christmas Production! Keep practising your lines and remember to say them in your ‘hall voice’! ๐ŸŒŸ

In English this week, we started our new unit on writing journey stories. We used the wonderful story ‘The Way Back Home’ by Oliver Jeffers to help kickstart our new topic. You might have this book at home to enjoy. If you don’t have a copy, you could always search for the book on sites such as YouTube and enjoy hearing it read to you.

As part of our Primary Writing Project work, we used this marvellous story and made it our own! We imitated the story and created our own version – The Way Back to School! Emerald Class are very creative! Our main character raided lost property and found a drone to fly all the way to a desert island. Our new story is no longer set in space; we have pirates, coconut trees and ships on the desert island! This week, I can’t wait to see what fun the children will have when they innovate the story further to make their own versions!

The children are working hard to make sure their sentences have capital letters, full stops and finger spaces! Keep working hard to make sure you include them independently Emeralds!

In Maths, we have been working on calculation. The children have been using and applying number bonds in their work. Emerald Class are trying really hard to learn number bonds. Can the children learn their number bonds to 10 off by heart? We use these number bonds in both addition and subtraction calculations so learning these mentally is incredibly beneficial.

We are going to focus on subtraction next week! ๐Ÿ˜Š You could make some subtraction questions at home. You could put 6 apples out for example. If 2 get eaten, how many are left? There are many opportunities to learn about subtraction at home!

Here are some of the kindness hearts we made in class. Thank you to Daniel in our class for the super idea! We made some heart paper chains to display our kindness challenges too. Here is a selection of our ideas. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Blog challenge! ๐ŸŸก๐ŸŸข๐Ÿ”ด๐Ÿ”ต

Well done to Blue team for winning our class blog challenge this week!

Linked to our road safety homework, I can’t wait to see the posters made which celebrate a Road Safety Hero! To enter the blog challenge this week I want you to come and tell my why the ambulance is painted in bright colours.

Well done Emeralds! We look forward to another fun and busy week at school! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Dont be mean behind the screen!

To finish off kindness week we looked how we can be more kind in the digital world!

First, we watched the Youtube video of Jackattack vs Robotron that you can see below.

We discussed what happened in the video as a whole and then stopped at different points through out to talk about the different choices that Jackattack and Robotron had made.

Then, we looked at a range of scenarios and organised them into categories based on if they were kind or unkind things to do online

Once we had sorted the scenarios provided, we then moved on to writing down some scenarios of our own under each heading.
