Onyx Class had great fun playing and evaluating the games they made for their homework last week.
The objective was to design and produce a game to practise multiplication and division of 10, 100 & 1000. There were so many amazing ideas and the children loved getting stuck in and adapting them if needed!🤩
In addition to making their games, the children had to write a detailed set of instructions so that ANYONE could play their game without being shown how. This wasn’t an easy task, however after some self editing, they blew Mrs Kyles and my socks off! Well done everyone! 👏
Onyx Class have celebrated Children’s Mental Health week in lots of different ways. The theme of ‘growing together’ was definitely a perfect one! ❤️

Over the week, we came up with lots of different ways we could help each other to grow emotionally as a class. Our favourite idea was to hold a ‘Time to Grow’ session every week where children can share any problems or worries they have and others listen and try to suggest ways that could help them to feel better ❤️
Year 5 & 6 also wrote their own letters to their younger selves offering advice and support for the years to come. The understanding and empathy shown was outstanding! ✨
Next week, we are going to get outside and dirty by reviving our garden area at the front of school. We are going to plant lots of bee friendly seeds to help the bee population to grow, as well as our own emotional understanding. Stay tuned for pictures! 👩🌾🧑🌾🪴🪴🌹🌷🌻🐝🐝🐝🐝
This afternoon, in Topaz Class, we have been busy painting our clay clocks which we have made in the style of Salvador Dali. Our aim was to work really carefully and neatly. What do you think?

Safer Internet Day 2022 was celebrated on 8th February with the theme ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online’.
From gaming and chat, to streaming and video, young people are shaping the interactive entertainment spaces they are a part of. Safer Internet Day 2022 celebrates young people’s role in creating a safer internet, whether that is whilst gaming and creating content, or interacting with their friends and peers.

They then recommended some games and shared ways to stay safe whilst playing them.
This weekend, Onyx class will be continuing with their internet safety work and completing lots of different tasks for their homework. 🤩
Over the weekend poor diamond class had a burglary! Those thieves took our lovely bear ☹️ but luckily our handy detectives found lots of clues and we even found cctv evidence so we could write a brilliant description of the thief! We’re pleased to say that Diamond Bear has been returned with a very apologetic note!

Ruby Class have begun to look at report writing for their English topic!
During Thursday’s lesson, the children learnt about subheadings. They were tasked with the challenge of sorting the key facts into the correct subheading!
I can’t wait to read their final reports in a few weeks time! ❤️

Ruby Class have been learning all about 2D shapes this week! We’ve had lots of fun naming and identifying the key properties of the shapes!
In Friday’s lesson the children had to the work out the total number of vertices in a range of shapes!
Look at us having lots of fun below!

Opal class have loved exploring Chinese New Year and getting to learn more about the meaning behind it! We have been getting in the spirit of Chinese New Year by decorating the classroom with lanterns, masks and paintings; researching the reasons why we have 12 animals in the zodiac and even completing some code breaking activities.
Below is an example of some of the decorations we made as a class
