Easter fun! 🐣🍫

Wow what a fun afternoon we had in Emerald Class participating in the PTA Easter egg hunt! It was a beautiful sunny day and we searched high and low for the Easter eggs with hidden letters on! Emerald Class worked hard in the classroom to unjumble the letters to make lots of different words – great spelling work team!

Finally (the best part!) was being rewarded with our Easter eggs! Many many thanks to the PTA for sourcing such delicious Easter egg for us! Yummy!

Wear a hat day 🎩⛑🧢🪖👒

Last Friday, the whole school took part in Wear a Hat day. The aim was to raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

Mrs Booth spoke to all the children in assembly about a little girl, India, who she used to teach. She explained that India had had a brain tumour wrapped around her Optic Nerve and that no one in the world would attempt to operate on it. Mrs Booth shared how in the end, thanks to Brain Tumour research, one doctor had tried to help India. Even though she wasn’t cured, the surgery gave her a better life and helped her to be able to do things she couldn’t do before.

Thank you to everyone who helped support this wonderful charity 🙏

Emerald learning

Emerald Class are superstars! It has been a pleasure to see the children work so hard in their learning to develop their skills and knowledge! Keep up the super work Emeralds! Here are a few snippets of our learning! ⭐

Fairtrade learning

Earlier this month we enjoyed learning about Fairtrade Fortnight. We learnt that through the choices we can make when we go shopping we can help to support Fairtrade farmers. Well done Emerald Class for finding the Fairtrade logo on the different food items we explored. We used Fairtrade products to bake delicious cookies! Can you spot any Fairtrade items at home or when you go shopping? We learnt about many Fairtrade farmers around the world who greatly benefit from the Fairtrade process.

British Science Week

Emerald Class loved learning all about ‘Growth’ which was this year’s British Science Week theme. In Forest School we planted our own beans which was lots of fun! Well done Emeralds for recording your work so brilliantly too! We have been thoroughly enjoying our Forest School sessions to help us to learn and work scientifically. We have found out lots about plants during our activities!

We also were incredibly fortunate to be visited by Sarah from Cuan Wildlife Rescue who shared lots of facts and knowledge about hedgehogs. We learnt lots about how hedgehogs grow and how they survive in the wild. Sadly, we found out that hedgehogs are an endangered species. Emerald Class also learnt about things that can be hazardous to hedgehogs so we know what to do to help them. During our last science unit on seasonal changes we had learnt about hibernating animals and I was so impressed many children could answer questions during the workshop! The children demonstrated great retrieval practice!
Thank you again to Sarah for a wonderful workshop and for bringing a very special visitor with her! Emerald Class had a brilliant time! 😊

Super fieldwork!

As part of our geography unit, Emerald Class have been learning all about our school grounds. We learnt lots of geographical vocabulary such as ‘rural’ and ‘urban’ to help us to learn more and describe our local area. We found out about making maps and plans from different perspectives. Emerald Class worked individually and then together as a team to create a plan of school! Great teamwork Emeralds!

To finish off the unit, Emerald Class completed lots of research about school and used the data to record in tally charts. We then were able to make statements about what we found out! Well done for working so hard in your geography learning!

PE

We love our fun and active PE lessons! We have been working really hard in our multi-sports PE lessons! We have been working on moving in many ways! Emerald Class have really focussed on developing their agility and we worked hard to change directions! Great work Emeralds!

Well done Emeralds! I am super proud of all the hard work you put into your activities! 😀

Royal Residences 👑❤️

Ruby Class had great fun in our Geography lesson this week! The children had the challenge of locating the homes of Queen Elizabeth 11 on a map of the UK. They used their brilliant computing skills to research 6 homes (Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Balmoral Castle, Hillsborough Castle, Sandringham Castle and Palace of Holyrood House) and plot them correctly.

I was so pleased to see such fantastic resilience and team work. Well done Ruby Class! 🥰❤️
