During gardening week Opal class planted some bird seed to see what grew. So far we have lots of shoots and we are looking forward to watching them continue to grow.

Opal class sunflower diaries
It seems the sunflower seeds we planted are slightly temperamental and some growing brilliantly while others not growing at all.

If your sunflower is not growing at home you may bring your diaries back in to school and we will use our demonstration sunflowers to fill them in as part of our early work.
🎉🎉It’s half term! 🎉🎉
Brilliant bird seed
As part of our learning during gardening week, we decided to investigate what was in bird seed.
Each group was given a hand full of bird seed to investigate and create a tally of the ingredients found in their bird seed
Once our tallys were finished we planted some of the seeds we found to see what (if anything) would grow.

The opal class blog with no pictures 🤔🤔
It has been amazing to continue our outdoor learning this week and the sunshine today made it all the better!
We have spent lots of time getting to know the environment around us in school and I would love to see what it looks like in the children’s minds. So, this weeks task is to draw a section of the school playground or field from memory.
5 team points are on the line for the most accurate drawings!
P.s remember to keep those plant diaries up dated during half term.

Sports day
Yesterday we reached the most anticipated date on the sporting calendar. Sound and District Sports Day.
The sun was shining (at first), the crowd was full of energy and the athletes were ready and raring to go.
Each athlete competed in a sprint, the egg and spoon race, the hurdles and then a team relay. The athletes battled through adverse weather conditions throughout the day but all emerged as champions in the end.
Congratulations everybody.
Repeating patterns in school
This term in art we have been focusing on repeating patterns and the techniques used to make them. We took inspiration from mental health week and decided to get out into the world and look for repeating patterns in the world around us.
We looked around all of the school grounds and here are some examples
Can you find any repeating patterns in the world around you ?
Opal Class Think, talk, tell (secret task inside) 🙊
This week in opal class we have been completing some Think, talk, tell activities based on happiness, what makes our day and what makes a day a good day.
We had lots of interesting conversation and debate and I would love to hear more!
This week’s blog task is to discuss the 5 think, talk, tell questions with your family and see if their answers are similar to yours!

I look forward to hearing your thoughts
