Treasure island grid references!

Diamond Class had a great lesson learning about grid references! We made a treasure island and used grid references to help us to hide the treasure and add lots of other features on the island such as palm trees, waterfalls and volcanoes!

Super challenge: can you make your own treasure map at home? Maybe you could hide some treasure in your home or garden and create a treasure map for your family to find it!

🐶Woof date-my first day!🐶

What a busy two days it’s been!

I’m the orange one… look how tiny I was!
Fluff ball me!

On Monday, mum said that she was sharing lots of pictures of me with all the children in an assembly, including some that were when I was a puppy! How embarrassing! Then today, I had my first trip into school. It was amazing! I didn’t get to spend time with any children, but mum says I will when I’ve been in a lot more and got used to being at school (us dogs don’t usually go to school to learn things, but I’m really excited to be able to go in now- there’s so much I want to know!)

I love adventures in the rain!
Can you guess what I am?!

I have a brand new bed, my water bowl and a special place in the new entrance area just for me. It’s quiet and peaceful and I even have my own postbox that the children keep putting things in especially for me! It’s like Christmas! I can’t wait to read them all with mum later! I’ve started to learn lots of names and can’t wait to get to spend lots of time helping children with their reading. Mum says we can even do some writing, maths and lots of other things together…. Yippee!

Mum and me on our way up a mountain!

I’m off to snuggle up with my brothers and sisters (the 4 cats) and dream of all the wonderful children at Sound School-my new family!

Snuggling up with the cats is one of my favourite things!

Night night!

Lots of love,

Padme 🐾

Great start to our Pirate and Sea Adventure week!

Ahoy there! We have had a busy day beginning our learning this week! We loved hearing the story of ‘The Pirates Next Door’ and we even had some treasure left for us by the pirates! We used the treasure to share in small groups. We had to work out how to share the coins equally! Diamond Class took part in lots of activities and had lots of fun in the process! One of the children’s favourite activities from today was to investigate which items would float or sink in the water. We had to predict what we thought would happen and then we tested the items to find out! See some of our learning today:

Under the sea!

Wow Diamond Class! You have had a super first week after the half term break! We became ‘Under the Sea’ experts and ended the week writing some brilliant fact files about sea creatures. We had fact files written about sharks, crabs, whales, dolphins and even elephant seals! Well done Diamonds!

We also had a great time making our sea creature paintings and I’ve added a photo with all of our masterpieces! We enjoyed lots of sea based activities in class and we saw some brilliant team work!

Super challenge: can you make your very own fact file at home about your favourite sea creatures? We would love to share even more of them in class!

Under the Sea art!

Wow Diamonds! You have impressed us so much with your excellent art skills! Linked to our ‘Under the Sea’ topic, we learnt about warm and cool colours and used them to make paintings of sea creatures. Have a look at some of the children’s fantastic work!

Super challenge: can you use your learning about warm and cool colours to make your own picture at home? We used paint in school but you could use lots of other materials too!
