Diamond class loved meeting Harry from Cheshire Cricket! They learnt how to use their bats to accurately hit the ball and worked to improve their fielding skills too! The children were amazing at hitting the stump and worked brilliantly as a team. Well done Diamonds 💎

Yesterday was National Writing Day! Diamond Class worked collaboratively to create their very own nature poem which the children decided should be titled ‘Fantastic Wildlife, Fantastic Nature’. We heard lots of nature poems and used this as inspiration for our own poem.

We also had a nature walk around our school grounds and we are so lucky that there is so many different aspects of nature to spot! We used our senses to help us identify what we could see, hear, touch and smell. The class were bursting with ideas when it came to creating our poem! We explored different descriptions and adjectives that we could use! We can’t wait to write our own individual poems now!

We learnt about one of the most famous French artists, Claude Monet this week! We learnt about some of the painting techniques that he used including the use of bright colours and making fast brush strokes. We tried hard to use our paintbrushes to make different effects.

We looked at several water lily paintings that Monet is very famous for creating, and we used his artwork to inspire our own nature outdoor paintings! Diamond Class worked brilliantly when painting outside and focussed on some of the techniques that Monet was famous for. See some of our work!

Diamond Class had a great start to French week! The children were keen to share what they already knew and showed lots of curiosity!

We used our imagination and went on a journey to France. We had to work out how to get there and our class decided to go via the Channel Tunnel!

When we arrived in France, we had a great visit around Paris (which we learnt is the capital city of France). We visited lots of landmarks and the children worked in teams to make their own Eiffel Tower! There were lots of brilliant landmarks made. Well done Diamonds!

We also became excellent cyclists and participated in our own version of the Tour de France! We worked hard to try and earn the yellow jersey!

Diamond Class had a wonderful time visiting a French cafe and sampled some French baguettes and cheese! We loved sitting in the cafe enjoying some accordion music whilst we enjoyed our snacks! Diamond Class loved trying the pain au chocolat too!

Well done Diamonds, we certainly had a super trip to France! 😃

In Diamond Class we have tied in drowning prevention week with our pirate day! We have learnt how to keep ourselves safe near water, especially the sea! The children already knew lots of useful facts which was great!
