The Year 5 children have continued with their Maths 24 challenge this morning. They are getting super speedy and are using a range or strategies to make 24 out of a given set of numbers.

You have to use each of the digits, but only once! You can use all four operations to help you.
We have had a really hands-on maths lesson this morning using place value counters to solve division calculations. This has helped us partition numbers then group them to develop our understanding.
Year 5 and 6 had a great time at Brine Leas watching the dress rehearsal for Legally Blonde. It gave all the children a real taste of the opportunities in store for them as they progress to High School.
As part of our work this week about keeping safe online, Year 4 and 5 have been learning about the concepts of ‘identity’ and ‘freedom of expression’. They have identified aspects of their own online identities and have been discussing the boundaries of freedom of expression online.

On Friday the whole of KS2 attended the Young Voices Concert at Manchester Arena! We sang along-side over 8000 other children to an audience of family and friends. We performed with Ruti Olajugbagbe , who was the winner of The Voice in 2018, The Shires and Tony Hadley, a member of the band Spandau Ballet. We had a fantastic time as I am sure you can see from the photographs. We can’t wait till Young Voices 2020!
Year 5 have been perfecting fantastic balances in gymnastics over the last couple of weeks.
We have been debating the hot topic of school uniform. “Should school uniform be banned?” What do you think?
Topaz class have been learning different ways that higher ground is shown on a map by creating their own potato mountains using contour lines.
