Diamond Class are working hard to create a bee friendly environment full of nature in our outside area! We have started to pull out all of the old plants and turn the soil over, we can’t wait to paint the planters up and start planting new seeds!

Onyx Class had a wonderful time raising money for Red Nose Day today and especially loved taking part in our Red Nose Day obstacle race. Mrs Wagg and the Sports Captains set the event up and after “3-2-1-NOSE” we were all off!

Topaz Class have had a lot of fun this afternoon investigating illusions as part of Science Week. We looked at a wide range of examples and tried to work out if they really were what we saw! The children even made their own illusion using straight lines.

This morning Topaz class took part in a very fun and energetic Nose and Spoon race for Comic Relief. The Year 6 sports captains set up an amazing obstacle course for each class to try out! The children tried so hard and it was great to see the smiles on their faces as they raced to the finish line!

Ruby Class had a brilliant afternoon working on their Design and Technology topic. In today’s lesson we looked at the types of smoothies already on the market! We enjoyed tasting (most) of them and then used this research to help us design our own smoothies.
We can’t wait to make our own smoothies next week! 😍

Ruby Class had a great day celebrating Red Nose Day!
We listened to Teddy’s story and thought about how incredible Teddy and Comic Relief is!
We enjoyed creating posters to show off how fantastic Comic Relief is and then this afternoon we enjoyed a doing a ‘red nose spoon race’ as organised by our wonderful Year 6 Sports Captains! 😍

Did you know that Nelson Mandela had a law degree? Did you know that his teacher gave him his name Nelson? Did you know that Nelson and his friend Oliver Townsend started the first black law firm in South Africa?
Onyx class did!
Over the last few weeks, the Year 5s and 6s have worked hard making visual timelines by choosing and ordering key events in chronological order and using different sources to gather their information.

Today they used their timelines to produce part of an oral biography about Mandela. They concentrated on speaking loudly, clearly and not too fast; using exaggerating language to make him sound fabulous; using linking words so that their biography was cohesive and using notes so that they were not just reading off a piece of paper.

Each and every one of them did a superb job and we can’t wait to get stuck into writing our full biographies next week!
Nelson Mandela was an incredibly inspirational man!
There was a range of learning activities going on around school this morning. The children’s behaviour and attitudes were excellent 🌟

Although we know that there are no larger life forms on Mars, Onyx class researched the planet and created their own creatures, thinking about what adaptations it would need to survive on the planet. We found Mars is extremely cold, sandy, has little oxygen and lots of ice.

We also thought about how marvellous our bodies are at fighting viruses and we tested our patience and resilience by making origami virus structures.
