This term in art we have been focusing on repeating patterns and the techniques used to make them. We took inspiration from mental health week and decided to get out into the world and look for repeating patterns in the world around us.
We looked around all of the school grounds and here are some examples
Can you find any repeating patterns in the world around you ?
Answer the Riddles below and the FIRST team where ALL the team members bring me the answers (and workings) will win this weeks prize! 🏆🎖🥇🏅
Riddle ☝️: A merchant can place 8 large boxes or 10 small boxes into a carton for shipping. In one shipment, he sent a total of 96 boxes. If there are more large boxes than small boxes, how many cartons did he ship?
Riddle ✌️: A farmer is trying to cross a river. He is taking with him a rabbit, carrots and a fox and he has a small raft. He can only bring 1 item a time across the river because the raft can only fit with the rabbit, the carrots or the fox. How does he cross the river (you can assume that the fox does not eat the rabbit if the man is present. You can also assume that the fox and the rabbit are not trying to escape and run away)?
We couldn’t believe it when we measured our bean plants this morning. We had the biggest smiles on our faces! 😀
As you can see, they have grown so much in just one week! We used rulers to measure the height of our plants and wrote all about our observations. We looked at the difference in height of our plants from last week. We had great fun!
After a morning of team discussions, delegation, sharing and collaboration, our Coral reefs were finally finished! What do you think?!
Afterwards, we discussed how our teams had worked: what was effective and what they could have improved. We then evaluated our directors! We learnt that sometimes you need to step up and lead by showing and directing, other times you need to empower your team and get them to buy into what you are doing by working more as a team of equals, and other times you need to do a combination, depending on who your team are and what they are doing.
Onyx class were fantastic! Mrs Booth is so so proud of you all! 👍
Onyx class had an unusual start to the morning looking at Coral reefs! We studied the different shapes, colours and textures and then in teams made our own 3D models! We focussed on leadership skills and working as effective teams giving praise and positive criticism. Stay tuned for our finished products!🤩
Today we had great fun learning about the Queen’s many residences! We loved the beautiful gardens of Windsor Castle and the huge dining room in Buckingham Palace. We learned that Balmoral Castle is near where Miss Poppleton was born too! 😊
Our task today was to locate where the Queen’s residences are in the UK and place them on a map. We worked in teams and did such a great job! 😊⭐️
At the beginning of term we each planted sunflower seeds and over the past few weeks we have been watching them change and grow. As part of our lesson today, we spent time observation their features and investigating how tall they have grown! 🌻
