Ahoy there! We have had a busy day beginning our learning this week! We loved hearing the story of ‘The Pirates Next Door’ and we even had some treasure left for us by the pirates! We used the treasure to share in small groups. We had to work out how to share the coins equally! Diamond Class took part in lots of activities and had lots of fun in the process! One of the children’s favourite activities from today was to investigate which items would float or sink in the water. We had to predict what we thought would happen and then we tested the items to find out! See some of our learning today:
Thesaurus Crazy! 📚📝
Emerald Class worked really hard to ‘up level’ words in English today. The children discussed how we often use the same boring words over and over again and how it stops the reader from being interested. They then learned how to use a thesaurus to help find alternatives and had great fun looking for all the different options!
Challenge: Can you use a thesaurus to find alternative words for ‘kind’ and ‘happy’?
📏 Ruby Class Measurement! ⭐️
FUN FACT: Did you know Ruby Class measure 2366cm in total!? 😀
Well neither did we… until today! ⭐️ We had great fun measuring all the members of Ruby Class! We each took it in turn to measure 📏 our partners, we recorded the results and then added everyone’s results together.
We demonstrated incredible problem solving skills today! 😊 🤔 💭
Well done Rubies!! ❤️
🌳☀️Forest School Fun- Week 1☀️🌳
Wow!!!
What an amazing afternoon Ruby Class had up in Forest School! 💚
We explored nature, habitats, insects, built dens, role played, climbed trees and much, much more!! We were all smiling from ear to ear all afternoon! We finished our session off with an exciting water squirting game!!
We demonstrated amazing resilience, team work and kind and caring attitudes towards each other but also the animals and insects that live in the forest. 🐜 🕷 🐞
We LOVE Forest School! 😀❤️🌳
The Great Fire of London! 🔥🧯
Emerald Class have impressed me so much with their brilliant Art skills this week. Linked to our ‘Great Fire of London’ topic, the children learnt about tone and used this to make a back drop of London during the great fire. Have a look at some of the children’s fantastic work! 🚒🧯🔥
Drifting Away with the Dreamy Dream Catchers
This afternoon in Topaz Class we have been working on our Dream Catchers, adding an explosion of colour! We hope you like our masterpieces!

Under the sea!
Wow Diamond Class! You have had a super first week after the half term break! We became ‘Under the Sea’ experts and ended the week writing some brilliant fact files about sea creatures. We had fact files written about sharks, crabs, whales, dolphins and even elephant seals! Well done Diamonds!
We also had a great time making our sea creature paintings and I’ve added a photo with all of our masterpieces! We enjoyed lots of sea based activities in class and we saw some brilliant team work!
Super challenge: can you make your very own fact file at home about your favourite sea creatures? We would love to share even more of them in class!
Buddy time!
Reception and Year 6 had a brilliant (and socially distanced) time with their buddies this week! It was lots of fun!

London’s Burning! 🔥
Emerald Class began their new History topic for this term, The Great Fire of London! We learnt about how Thomas Farriner, the baker’s house set on fire and then spread across almost of all London.
Check out our super drama work below!
Under the Sea art!
Wow Diamonds! You have impressed us so much with your excellent art skills! Linked to our ‘Under the Sea’ topic, we learnt about warm and cool colours and used them to make paintings of sea creatures. Have a look at some of the children’s fantastic work!
Super challenge: can you use your learning about warm and cool colours to make your own picture at home? We used paint in school but you could use lots of other materials too!
