School Year Review! 💚

This morning Emerald Class looked back over their time in Year 1. The children spent time reflecting on all of the things they have enjoyed this year and the things they have most improved at. It was wonderful to see the children sharing their successes and recognising all that they have achieved this year.

The children then discussed all of the things they hope to do next year and the things they would like to get better at. I can already tell that we’re going to have such a fantastic year!

Emerald Class finished off National Sports Week with a wonderful football session!

Kyle from Sports Coaching Group came into the School and led a brilliant session. The children learnt to dribble, shoot, attack and defend!

This week we demonstrated amazing teamwork as we built dens safe to shelter us from potential rainfall! We did a wonderful job and I was so proud of the amazing team spirit demonstrated by everyone! 😊❤️ Ruby Class, you are wonderful!!

We finished our session off making eggy bread over the fire! 🔥 We learned about fire safety and took it in turns to put water on the fire to safely put it out whilst sharing our highlight of the week and something we want to work on next week! 😊

💛🏐Nifty Netball! 🏐💛

Our final taster session of Sports Week was Netball with the Ladyhawks! 😊 We loved learning the footwork rule and were taught a handy tip of remembering to say “ice-cream” when we place our feet on the ground! 😊

Our super coaches Sian and Katie were amazing and we all had the best time! 😊 Thank you very much!

Once again Ruby Class had the most wonderful day filled with lots of exciting sports taster sessions!! We started our day with… football! ⭐️😊⚽️ We had the BEST time working on our football skills! (Even Miss Poppleton scored a goal!! 😱😱 ..shocking, I know!)

Kyle our super footie teacher taught us many skills, such as how to control the ball, how to defend, how to save a goal and how to pass the ball carefully! We had SO much fun!! 😁😊😁😊

I was so proud of all the children today, not only with the progress in skills but also in confidence. A few children were nervous before our football session and felt they “couldn’t do football!” But everyone gave 100% and realised just how wonderful they are! 😊 We learned that when we set our mind to something we can do anything we want!

Super league netballers!

Watch out Manchester Thunder and Loughborough Lightning we have some future netball superstars to look out for in Diamond Class! Thank you to coach Sian and Katie from Ladyhawks Netball for teaching us lots of fun skills and activities to help us learn more about netball! We learnt about the footwork rule by running to the line and catching the ball. Shouting ‘ice cream’ helps us to know which feet to place! What a good tip! What a fun session we had! 😃 we adore sports week! 🥰

💖Born to play Boccia 💕

Next up for National Sports Week was Boccia!

Our wonderful Year 5’s learn this brilliant Paralympic sport first, refined their skills and then taught the Year 6’s! Accuracy and patience were the name of the game!

Finally, the Y6’s set up mini activities to teach their Reception buddies and help them to throw with increasing skill.

Sports fun in Diamond Class!

Diamond class absolutely love sports week and have had so much fun practicing skills and learning new sports! It has been so much fun and the children have had huge smiles on their faces all week! 😃🏅

Over the last few days we learnt a street dance and played boccia. Our year 6 buddies even helped to coach us from a safe distance away. Well done superstar Diamonds! 💎

We have also been completing lots of sports based learning within the classroom too! Diamond class were so excited when England beat Germany at the Euros that we had some Euros inspired play activities too! We used the pegs to make different flags and we also built Wembley stadium using construction materials. We loved using the football characters to help us to calculate and write sums! We also participated in sporty phonics to help us to revise sounds we have been learning! It’s been a fun and busy week! 🏅😃
