Today Diamond Class have had great fun sequencing numbers and counting! We learned that the best way to count many objects is to line them up and touch them as we count them! We are superstar counters! 😀😀

Wow! What a wonderful morning Diamond Class had investigating the Venus Fly Trap brought in by the lovely Theo! We learned that this plant is actually a carnivore and loves to gobble up flies! 🪰🪰🪰
We counted three flies caught in total!

🥰 Buddy Time! 🥰
On Friday Reception Class met their special Year 6 buddies for the very first time! We absolutely loved getting to know our buddies and already can’t wait to spend more time with them next Friday!
We loved showing our buddies around our classroom and getting to know them by asking them questions such as what is their favourite colour and favourite toys! 😀💙
We will be meeting our buddies every Friday afternoon for 20minutes! 😀
10 minute sketch! ✍️
Today the class enjoyed completing a 10 minute sketch at the beginning of our Art session. Our focus for this weeks drawing was observation. Can you guess what we were trying to draw?

Quest Stories! 🌶📝
The children have spent the last few weeks using the traditional tale of Little Red Riding Hood to learn how to write a quest story!
Today the children have been using all of their new learning to write up their own wonderful stories and complete their hot task!

The children had great fun this morning practising their weekly spellings! The class used funky colours and had to dart around the room writing out their spellings as quickly as they could in the given time! The pages quickly became filled!!

To support the children’s RE learning this week, we welcomed Kathryn from Sound and Broomhall chapel into school. Ruby Class prepared some excellent questions with Mrs Huntbach. They asked Kathryn about her life, why she chooses to be a Christian and about the bible. The children then had the chance to listen to stories and look at her collection of bibles. They enjoyed learning and talking about how each were slightly different. The children had a marvellous time!!
⭐️ Maths of the Day! ⭐️
Over the last few days we have been looking at inverse in Maths. We have been playing the role of a teacher and checking lots of answers!
Today we played a Maths of the Day game. We worked in teams to sort calculations into true and false piles! Next we played a game of pass the number! We were given a target number and had to come up with a range of number sentences which make the number. We loved being active and moving around!

Wow! 🤩 What an amazing first three weeks we have had in Diamond Class. We are so proud of all the children for settling into our lovely school so brilliantly. We are so proud of everyone’s super resilient attitudes and lovely determination to give things a go. Diamond class really are amazing! 💙

We have also had lots of fun meeting the letterland phonics characters too! Our reading is improving every single day!! 📚 We have also been working very hard on our turn taking, sharing and independence skills over the past three weeks and we are already so proud of all the progress the children have made! 💎😀 As well as all of this we have also worked incredibly hard on our teamwork skills. The children have particularly loved building marble runs!
