❤️💚 Ruby Class Blog Challenge No. 2 💙💛

Remembrance Day is held on the 11th November each year. It is a time when we remember all those who have died since the First World War.

For your challenge this week, I would like you to talk with your family about remembrance and why it is important to learn about this special day each year.

Option 1: I would like you to finish the sentences below using the word bank to help you.

Option 2: Create a piece of Art which shows your understanding of Remembrance Day.

Bring your answers Miss Wade by Friday 12th November. Remember, the team with the most people who complete the challenge will win a team trophy! 🏆

🌟Fantastic Fireworks! 🌟

The children had a wonderful afternoon on Friday getting all creative and learning about bonfire night! 🎆

We talked about how to keep safe during bonfire night in readiness for the weekends festivities!

We then created some fantastic firework art. The children used paint, pipe cleaners, oil pastels and straws to create some excellent work. Take a look below!

💷 Money Awareness Week! 💷

Ruby Class had a wonderful session on Friday celebrating Money Awareness Week!

We began our session by talking about what money is, where is comes from and how we can get money. The children came up with some wonderful discussion points!

Afterwards, we talked about what wants and needs are. The children then created a list of the things we need and things that they would like.

Well done Ruby Class, your work was fantastic! ❤️

Wow Emerald Class! You did some super work when you were learning all about Bonfire Night!

Keep practising your number bonds, Emeralds! We used firework shapes to help us learn our number bonds to 10! Can you work on these at home? How many different ways can you make 10?

Well done Emeralds, you made some beautiful firework displays over the houses of Parliament!

🔵🟢🟡🔴 Blog time! Here is our weekly blog challenge!

For this week’s blog challenge, you have until Thursday (11th November) to create your very own poppy.

To make your poppy you could use;

  • paint
  • colouring pencils
  • crayons
  • the computer to make a digital poppy
  • poppy coloured items from around your home and make your poppy out of these objects! Take a photo of your transient art poppy and share this with us in school!
  • you may think of another way to create your poppy!

Please bring these poppies (or photographs of what you have made) into school by Thursday. Many thanks! I can’t wait to see what you will create! Emerald Class are very creative! 😃

Remember the team with the most entries will win the class team trophy!

We will be completing lots of learning around Remembrance this week so the poppies made will be used as part of our learning.

💥⭐️✨Fabulous Fireworks! ✨⭐️💥

Diamond Class have loved learning about bonfire night!

We discussed ways we can make sure we keep safe whilst at a bonfire or fireworks display. 💥

Amelie- “ You need to wear 🧤 gloves for sparklers so you don’t burn.”

William- “You need to look after your pets because they might get scared of the bangs”

Theo- “ Make sure you stand back from fireworks and don’t go near them!”

Eleanor- “ Always stay with an adult and don’t trick them and run off!”

Ozzie- “ Don’t go near the bonfire because you’ll get burnt”

In celebration of bonfire night we had some bonfire fun this morning! We created our own fireworks using pom-poms, glitter and other crafty bits and we had great fun creating beautiful firework art work using paints and marbles! We used the marbles to spread the colours to make it look like beautiful fireworks in the night sky! 💥⭐️✨💎

💎 💰 Money Awareness Week! 💰 💎

This week our whole school has taken part in Money Awareness Week! This week has been a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn more about where money comes from and how to look after it.

Diamond Class have enjoyed learning about where money comes from and how we can earn money. We’ve enjoyed looking at ways we can save and look after our money and how to use and sort coins. We even made our own cute little piggy banks to save up our pennies! 🐽

We’ve all worked incredibly hard and definitely understand money a little bit more now! ☺️

Olivia “I’m saving up for an exercise course, a hoover and a food maker and I save in my piggy bank!”

Amelie “ I’m saving up for a colour changing doll!”

Taylor- “I’m saving up to take my family on holiday!”

William- “ We need jobs to earn money!”

Well done Diamonds! 💎

Emerald Class celebrated Diwali!

Happy Diwali!

Emerald Class had a wonderful time learning about Diwali, the festival of lights! We learnt about the Hindu story of Rama and Sita and learnt about some of the traditions involved in celebrating Diwali.

Emerald Class really impressed me with their superb teamwork to help design and create some wonderful Rangoli patterns. The children were incredible; they were so engaged in the task and their team work was fantastic. Well done on working so well with your partner to discuss your designs and then working so well together to create your pattern. We all had lots of smiles on our faces! Very proud teacher alert! 😃

💎 We LOVE Gymnastics! 🥰

Diamond Class had the most wonderful trip to Crewe to learn how to become amazing gymnasts!! 🙃

We learned how to move our bodies in lots of different ways! 😊 We moved like frogs, rabbits, crabs, crocodiles, caterpillars and even bears!! 🐻 We learned how to hold our bodies and how to point our toes beautifully too!

Many of us had never been on a bus before so this was a wonderful adventure! 🚌 We asked lots of questions about everything we spotted on the bus showing super curiosity. We learned about the importance of wearing our seatbelt too! ☺️

Diamond Class were AMAZING! Everyone showed amazing resilience and independence whilst taking part in all the activities and we all managed to put our own socks, shoes and jumpers back on ourselves before home time !! ⭐️✨💎 WOW WOW WOW!

We had the most wonderful time and already can’t wait to go back next week! 😊

💶Money Awareness Week 💳

This week has been Money Awareness Week and we have had sooooooo much fun learning about it in Onyx Class.

Yesterday, we learnt that there are many ways we can pay for things. We investigated why we would use one method for some things and a different one for others eg a debit card or Apple Pay to buy your weekly shopping and standing orders or direct debits to pay bills.

Here’s what some of the children learnt:

“The difference between credit and debit cards. We didn’t realise that credit cards mean that we are borrowing from the bank and that they add charges onto this money so we end up paying back more!” Jack

“ You need to be careful with Credit Cards. It’s important to make sure you can pay them off straight away.” Sofiya

“You need to be careful with money and by doing a family budget it helps you to keep track of your spending and helps to reduce stress and anxiety.“ Maison

“Credit Cards are safer when buying things on line as they have more insurance.” Poppy

“Apple Pay and Google Pay are really safe as they don’t share the whole card number but only some of it so it is harder to clone than a card.” Mrs Booth

“You need to make good decisions with money.” Thomas

“There are lots of ways to pay online such as PayPal and Online Banking.” Sam

After this, we helped the Williams Family with their budget. We decided whether they should use a debit or credit payment for each item and discussed why. We though about the cost of each item, the time in the month, what made good money sense and why different people may make different decisions.

Overall, Onyx Class learnt lots of important life skills. Who knew money could be soo much fun!
