🔴🟢💎Diamond Class Blog Challenge 6! 💎🟡🔵

Well done to everyone who solved my tricky riddle! 😀 It was a pleasure to hear the children’s riddles too! Well done Diamonds!💎

This weeks challenge is… 🥁

I would love you to talk about what Christmas means to you with your family! ⭐️ ♥️ What is your favourite thing about Christmas time? 🎄

Miss Poppleton loves spending time with her family and eating lots of delicious chocolates! 😀 I can’t wait to hear what Diamond Class love about Christmas and what Christmas means to them.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow ❄️ ⛄️

Diamond Class had a wonderful afternoon making and exploring snow!! We observed the changes that occurred when we added water to the powder and talked about we saw.

We talked about where real snow comes from and where we can find it in our world. We also learnt about animals that love snow! 🐧

📚Recommend Reads 📚

Topaz class are all avid readers and we decided it was time we started sharing our favourite books with each other.

This week, Toby has recommended SKY SONG by Abi Elphinstone. He explained that it is a story about a little girl trapped in an enchanted castle by an ice queen. His favourite thing about the book is all the wonderful characters with very different personalities. Toby has rated this book 9.5 out of 10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Eva recommends BILLIONAIRE BOY by DAVID WALLIAMS as it is very funny but also a great story of friendship and school life.

She gave it 10 /10 .⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fionnlagh recommends reading Varjak Paw by SF Said which sounds like a fantastic book about a cat who travels through the ‘way’ surviving terrifying dog gangs and the strange vanishing!! He rates the book 110 % !!

Finally for this week, Brandon enthused about David Baddiel’s book THE PARENT AGENCY. It is about a boy who doesn’t like his parents and goes to the Parent Agency to get different ones . Sounds like an easy solution but there is a twist in the tale!!

Snowy day!

We had lots of fun exploring the snow today! It is great fun to explore seasonal changes. 😃
The children had huge smiles on their faces and we had such a joyful time outside!

We have been busy writing our stories in English and working on subtraction in Maths! I’ll make sure to send updates on our learning this week! The children are working so hard and I’m really proud of their brilliant attitudes! Well done Emeralds!

Emerald Class also worked really hard last week learning more about the impact of plastic pollution. We took part in a special whole school assembly learning about the plastic pollution in our oceans and waters. The children shared lots of ideas about how we can use less plastic! We will continue this important learning this week too!

Blog challenge! (From Monday 29th November to Friday 3rd December)

Here are some snowy photographs taken of school from this morning! It was a beautiful morning! Can you write a sentence about one of the photographs? Remember to make sure you include capital letters, full stops and finger spaces between words. Read your sentence back and check that it makes sense. Bonus points for using lots of descriptions and adjectives too!

Share your super writing to gain a point for your team before Friday’s Celebration Assembly!

🧴Plastic Free Schools🐬

Today, Onyx Class took part in a worldwide assembly based on plastics. The focus was how plastics are affecting and killing our oceans and how we can reduce plastic pollution in our schools.

We learnt so much, including that plastics do not totally break down, fish mistake micro-plastics for food and our school generates 8640 yoghurt pots a year! Wow!

Our Recycling officers are now planning lots of ways to help reduce our plastic wastage in school in order to help our seas and planet. We will keep you posted!

🐙 Save our Oceans! 🐠

Today Diamond Class learnt all about single use plastics and the damage they are having on our beautiful Oceans. 🦀🐳🐋

We looked at ways we can reduce the amount of plastic we use. The children were wonderful at coming up with ideas 💡 such as using a water bottle and recycling our waste. ♻️

We then had a go at sorting a range of rubbish into recycling piles! We were amazing at this 😊
