Kindness 🌟

Ruby Class enjoyed a great carpet session on Friday to close our kindness week. We each gave an example of how we have been kind in the day and spoke about what we planned to do at home to keep the kindness flowing!

We then each created a poster to display many of the ways we can be kind! 💛

Money! 💷

Today we explored money! We looked at the colour, sizes and shapes of the coins. We discussed their values. We did some sorting and began exploring how to make amounts in different ways!

We loved dancing along to this money song! Why not dance at home along too. 😃

Ruby Class Belong!

Ruby Class had a wonderful afternoon with Mrs Huntbach in RE. The children have been thinking about the concept of ‘belonging’. Today they brought in objects that represented what they belonged to! It’s fantastic to see all that the children do and where they feel they belong!

Thank you for a great lesson, Mrs Huntbach! ❤️

Everyday Materials! 🚘🚶‍♀️

Ruby Class had great fun out and about looking for materials and their uses! ☺️

We talked about why certain materials are used to make things and why it wouldn’t be sensible to use others. We learnt that ‘for sale’ signs are made of plastic and discussed why cardboard wouldn’t be a good idea because it isn’t waterproof. We also spoke about why greenhouses are made of glass to allow for light to flow through for the plants growing.

Excellent discussions and understanding Ruby Class!

🔴🟢Ruby Class Blog Challenge No. 3 🔵🟡

This week is Anti-Bullying week and the theme this year is ‘One Kind Word’. We can’t wait to participate in the kindness challenge and see all the different ways we can spread kindness! Ruby Class, are such a kind and caring class and show wonderful examples of kindness every single day! ⭐️

Here is our Kindness challenge for this week for use at home and in school. I wonder if you can complete them all?! 😊

Challenge:

I would like you design an eye catching poster to encourage everyone to be kind! Hopefully we can display the best ones in the classroom to remind us each day to be extra kind!

Word Problems! 🔢

Ruby Class loved getting active on Thursday while completing Maths!

Today we had lots of addition and subtraction word problems spread around out classroom. With a partner our task was to find the problems and solve them using all of the addition and subtraction knowledge we have learned over the past few weeks! Look at us in action below!

Remembrance Week ❤️

This week Ruby Class have been learning all about remembrance.

The children have shared some excellent knowledge about Remembrance Day and why we come together each year to think of those who gave their tomorrow for out today.

On Tuesday, the children created some fantastic remembrance list poems. I was blown away with the children’s ideas and the quality of their work.

On Thursday, we had a wonderful Remembrance Day assembly with our whole school led by Onyx class (Year 5/6). We then went outside to our flagpole and lay a Remembrance wreath and showed our respect with a 2 minute silence. Following this we had some super Year 6’s come and read us some beautiful remembrance poetry.

To finish off the week, we enjoyed creating our own landscape pieces of art based on what we think Flanders field would look like when poppies grow each year. We used oil pastels and water colours to create our wonderful masterpieces. We talked about making sure the poppies in the foreground were larger than those in the middle and background.

Well done Ruby Class. You are all AMAZING!

A Magical Visitor! 🌟

Wow! Wow! Wow! Ruby Class were amazed this morning when a very special visitor walked in to our classroom!

We were all blown away when Belle from Beauty and the Beast came in! She was so kind! We enjoyed listening to her read (she loves reading), sing and we even got to ask her lots of questions! ❤️💛

What a wonderful visit we had! Here are Belle’s contact details if you would like further information about booking her for parties and events!

❤️💚 Ruby Class Blog Challenge No. 2 💙💛

Remembrance Day is held on the 11th November each year. It is a time when we remember all those who have died since the First World War.

For your challenge this week, I would like you to talk with your family about remembrance and why it is important to learn about this special day each year.

Option 1: I would like you to finish the sentences below using the word bank to help you.

Option 2: Create a piece of Art which shows your understanding of Remembrance Day.

Bring your answers Miss Wade by Friday 12th November. Remember, the team with the most people who complete the challenge will win a team trophy! 🏆

🌟Fantastic Fireworks! 🌟

The children had a wonderful afternoon on Friday getting all creative and learning about bonfire night! 🎆

We talked about how to keep safe during bonfire night in readiness for the weekends festivities!

We then created some fantastic firework art. The children used paint, pipe cleaners, oil pastels and straws to create some excellent work. Take a look below!
