🥤Turn up the Volume! 🔊

This morning, Onyx Class took the opportunity of clear skies to get outside and do their Maths Volume work. We found the volume of different stadiums around the world and realised that open air stadiums are almost impossible to find the volume of! We also got hot and sweaty with some extra hard 2digit by 2digit by 1digit sums and linking exercise to it! We love ACTIVE MATHS! 🤩🤩

⁉️⁉️Does light bend? ⁉️⁉️

This afternoon, Onyx class investigated how light travels. They shone a torch through a series of holes in squares of card, and the light shone onto the end target. They found that when they moved a piece of card from the line, the light carried on travelling through the remaining holes to the target, but didn’t change direction to go through the moved hole.

Conclusion: LIGHT TRAVELS IN STRAIGHT LINES! 🔦

🪡🪡Fashion through the decades🧵🧵

The Design and Technology and History brief was set: to make an outfit or item of clothing showing different trends/styles or colours from at least 3 different decades…. could they do it?!? Of course they could! 🥰

After spending weeks investigating different fashions and designing our own, it was time to get the needle and thread, scissors and material out. The children all did brilliantly, we made our own templates and some even started joining their pieces! 🥳🥳

Stay tuned for updates! 🤩

National Skipping Week

Onyx class have had a great week skipping! We learnt that even though it looks easy and is for some children, that for others it was a new skill that required resilience, patience, determination and practise. 💪

We enjoyed ourselves soo much that we are going to continue practising our different skips at break and lunchtime next week and hopefully smash our own PBs next Friday! We can do this! 🤩

🐣Easter Team Day🐣

The morning started with looking at how other cultures and countries celebrate Easter around the world. We were really shocked at some of the traditions, particularly the Hungarian men throwing water over women in exchange for painted eggs! 🤣

Next up we held a debate: Should people who are not Christian celebrate Easter and Christmas? This was an interesting topic, getting us all thinking and backing up our thoughts with real life examples. In the end, a larger proportion of the class thought that they should be allowed in order to show respect for Christianity, to help shops and businesses make money and also to enable people to keep the Easter story alive.

After a spot of Easter coordinates, we used our wonderful outside area to act out our Easter bunny myths. We focussed on narration, working with the audience and using the natural environment to showcase our stories. The myths were fabulous! 👍

Have a fantastic Easter break everyone! From Onyx Class 🥚 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚
