Year 6 Taekwondo

On Thursday, Year 6 showcased their amazing Taekwondo skills for their parents.

Over the past term, the pupils have taken part in sessions run by the wonderful Leslie Wright from Tae Kwon-Do and have not only learnt the physical, self-defence skills but have also improved their fitness and developed their characters. The morals based upon courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit are the five tenets which are displayed in each lesson. These in-still self-confidence, a desire to work hard to achieve goals, increase fitness, and improve co-ordination and also teach the children important life skills.

Following the display, the pupils were presented with their grading certificates from the week before and a special award was given to Sofiya Hare for being an all round superstar throughout all the sessions! ⭐️

Well done Onyx Class- you make Mrs Booth & Mrs Kyle VERY proud! Remember these morals at High School! 😉

🧯Crucial Crewe🦺

This afternoon, Year 6 took part in Crucial Crewe 2022. We learnt all about alcohol and the effects alcohol has on the body.

Next, we experimented with SP Network, learning all about electricity and electrical safety. We even found out that it can travel through our bodies! Wow!

The NHS then taught us all about well-being (which linked in beautifully with World Mental Health Day) and the Dogs Trust reminded us to never disturb dogs who are sleeping, eating or alone. 🐶

GIST taught us all about vehicle safety, including where blind spots are on large trucks and their stopping distances.

Finally, Cheshire Police shared some fantastic E-Safety tips with us, especially that Snapchat has a minimum age of 13 years due to the content that is shared and also to never send pictures of our bodies to anyone.

A huge thank you to Crucial Crewe for a fabulous afternoon and hopefully this learning will keep us all safe in the future!

Endangered Animals

This week, we have been learning about Endangered Animals and the reasons why they are endangered. Climate change, deforestation , pollution and poaching are the main threats many animals face.

By learning more about these animals we can educate ourselves about how we can make a difference. In the short term, the children were keen to raise money to adopt an animal with the WWF.

Lots of baking later and a cake sake and the children raised over £100 for the WWF. Thank you 😊 everyone for your support.

In the coming weeks, we are going to decide what small changes we make at school to do our bit to reduce Climate Change and help the environment.

Goodbye Rubies!! 📚❤️🍎

Wow!! How can it be the end of another school year already?!

Ruby Class, you have blown me away over the last two years. You have made me the proudest teacher in the whole world and I’m really going to miss you all!

Have a wonderful summer, Mrs Huntbach and I can’t wait to hear what you get up to!

Mums and Dads, I am incredibly grateful for the support and patience you have all shown me over the last two years. Thank you for trusting me to ‘borrow’ your children to teach them. Each and everyone one is a credit to you! I hope they continue to grow into the amazing young individuals they are all capable of being! 😍❤️📚
