Standon Bowers Residential!

Wow what a fantastic time the Year One and Two children had on their residential visit! We had so much fun and what a pleasure it was to see the children having a great time!

Here is an overview of the activities we completed on our residential visit!

We were very excited in anticipation of our visit!

When we arrived, our first jobs were to make our beds in our dormitories. We saw lots of great teamwork!

Then we had some exploring time around the grounds at Standon Bowers. We had sun, rain and even snow during our time exploring outside!

We quickly got to know where everything is at Standon Bowers. We enjoyed our first meal in the dinner hall.

After lunch, it was time to begin our first two activities. We had four special activities over the two days: campfire cooking, blindfold trail, bouldering and pond dipping. Here is a selection of photos from the four activities!

Pond dipping

Pond dipping was brilliant! We explored the pond areas to see what we could catch. We used the magnifying glass and pots to help us to identify the different things we spotted. Every group managed to catch a newt which was a real highlight of the session!

Bouldering

Bouldering was so much fun! We explored the different climbing walls and holds playing lots of fun games.

Campfire cooking

We put our Forest School skills to great use during this workshop! We used fire making tools to make a fire and we created a campfire. We even got to bake some bread!

Blindfold trail

Teamwork and communication were the key to this activity! We had to work with our friends to navigate the course. Well done Emeralds and Rubies for displaying lots of resilience!

At the end of our first day, we enjoyed a super fun scavenger hunt before settling down with a well-earned cup of hot chocolate and story time. Soon it was time to brush our teeth and get ready for bed. We were well and truly tired after a busy first day!

On Day two, we woke nice and early in preparation for our final day. We packed up all our things ready to go home before having breakfast and beginning the final two activities.

Before we knew it, it was time to go on the school bus ready to go back to school! We are very grateful to all the wonderful instructors at Standon Bowers who helped look after us and lead our activities. Thank you also to our wonderful Sound staff for looking after us too!

Amazing superstar children!

The children were an absolute credit; their behaviour was excellent, and we are extremely proud of them! They put 100% into the activities and it was a pleasure to see the children tackle the different challenges with such brilliant attitudes. During every activity and mealtime the children demonstrated excellent manners and kindness. We are incredibly proud of our amazing Emeralds and Rubies and what a joy it was to see such huge smiles on their faces throughout the residential!

Well done children, you are incredible! 🌟😊
